Third: The most important
Features and Strategies of
the Department: |
|
1- To take care of the most
important aspect of man, his
health and pollution free
environment, by following
what is known of clean
cultivation, in which no
chemical pesticides are used
except when necessary, and
selection of the safe
pesticides, and stop its
use, in ample time before
coloring of the fruits.
2- To bear responsibility of
production development to
maintain the trust of the
consumer which is gained by
offering and distribution of
high class type of dates,
and to provide the best
types of palm seedlings
which is in line with
technical specification and
selected according to the
latest scientific programs
of palm digitizing and
integral control and
balanced nutrition.
3- As Agricultural
Department is aware of the
importance of developing
human cadres of project and
sector supervisors, try to
promote their levels, the
Department always try to
convene cultural scientific
symposiums for them, and
publication of a monthly
technical leaflets tackling
the monthly and seasonal
programs of dates palms.
4- To prepare the various
scientific experiments and
adopt its results in
decision making, and to
apply results of researches
and studies that is
appropriate with the
circumstances of
agricultural project, and go
along with scientific
development, and try to
participate in scientific
congresses related to palms,
dates and pests control,
feeding of plant and
adoption of every thing new
in this field. |

Fourth: Department Products
of Seedlings and Dates. |
|

|
Accurate scientific
planning, comprehensive
studies, and continuous
research in which Sheikh Saleh Abdul Aziz Al Rajhi
Endowment Management is
concerned, have resulted in
a standard successes and
wonderful results in the
production of the best class
of dates palm seedlings, and
high class type of dates,
which is produced by a more
than quarter of a millions
dates palm in its
agricultural projects in
central region which is
ranked the first in this
field. Therefore
Agricultural Department have
the best class of seedlings
that exceeds thirty classes
available the year round and
which is appropriate to the
climate of Arab Gulf Region
and which is in line with
the technical specifications
specified by Ministry of
Agriculture. Also during the
season the best types of
dates is available and with
high class varieties, sorted
according to the latest
sorting criteria, cared of
according the modern
scientific technology such
as balanced nutrition, free
from remains of pesticides
and plant diseases. |

Fifth: Achievements of
Agricultural Department. |

A- On the technical level:
1-
Use of
solar cells in transferring
the solar
energy into
electrical power:
If Al-Batin Project has
witnessed structural move
during 1426H, it also
witnessed scientific
technology which is
considered the first of its
type at Qassim farms as well
as in most farms around the
Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,
where 4 solar cells were
provided and installed in
the 4th phase (Organic
agriculture field) of Al-Batin
project. The solar energy was
transferred through such
cells into electrical power
and the photo traps was
eliminated at night in the
rate of two traps per each
cell. Lots of palm night
insects were trapped, which
give an indication about the
type of insect diseases and
their density as well as
contribution in limiting
insect wide spreading and
reproduction as a safe means
among protective ways from
insect diseases in the
organic agriculture fields,
clean or traditional
agriculture.
2- Extracting pollens:
The equipment of extracting
pollens is provided and its
operation as well as its
capacity in extracting
pollens powder was assessed.
B- On the scientific level:
The year 1426H witnessed
important scientific events
like:
-
Giving a lecture about
"Overview of the
Agricultural Department
and its experience in
producing organic dates"
in the 3rd International
Conference at the
Research Institute of
Plants Protection in
Arab Republic of Egypt
in November 2005,
attended by many Arab &
foreign scientist and
fans at the protection &
palm trees. Both Dr.
Ramzy A. Rahim & Engr.
A. Rahman Al-Atawi
attended this
conference.
-
Participation with
Qassim University in
preparing palm trees and
dates encyclopedia in
both Arab & Islamic
world is under going
after approval of the
Director General and the
desire of the General
secretary that this work
should be produced in a
distinguished way.
-
Meeting with officials
at King Saud University,
Riyadh to discuss
construction of Sheikh
Saleh Al-Rajhi for palm
trees and dates'
researches as per
directions of the
General Secretary.
-
Notifying Ministry of
Agriculture to record a
number of 27000 trees in
Al-Batin project under
organic agriculture at
the European
Organization of Organic
Agriculture (Echosert).
With this part, dates
will be ready for export
by 2007 and coordination
started between the
Department and the
Ministry in this regard.
-
Participation with the
following bodies in
making both scientific
and practical
experiments:
-
Qassim University and
experiments for
improving the fruit
types.
-
SABIC and experiments to
rationalize the
consumption of
fertilizers to elevate
the quality.
-
Coolege
of agriculture, Ain Shams University to
test the efficiency of
plant extracts for
insect control.
-
Immar International
Company for insecticides
to test the efficiency
of some substances
delaying the reaping of
raw dates (BArhi).
